Hailing from HELSINKI, FINLAND comes DON FILMS. Co-founded in 2010 by friends with solid backgrounds in producing, directing and screenwriting, we devote ourselves to character-driven stories with high stakes and unstoppable momentum.

 

Currently we’re in production with ELLA AND FRIENDS - OPERATION OTTER, a Finnish family film based on the beloved children’s books by Timo Parvela and directed by Elin Grönblom. The film, with its world premiere at the Giffoni Film Festival, will be released nationwide in cinemas in Finland in October 2025 by Nordisk Film.

Our recent releases include Taneli Mustonen’s psychological horror film THE TWIN (2022) starring Teresa Palmer (The Fall Guy, Lights Out, A Discovery of Witches), with theatrical releases in 34 countries, as well as the Finnish comedy hit JINGLE BELLS (Kulkuset kulkuset, 2022) by Finnish veteran director Taru Mäkelä,  featuring an all-star cast, including Martti Suosalo, Christoffer Strandberg, and Eeva Litmanen.

Recent co-production include THERE’S SOMETHING IN THE BARN (2023) by Magnus Martens and starring Martin Starr, CYCHOSIS (2023) by Kari Vidø, both theatrically released in the Nordics. Co-produciton HOLD YOUR BREATH: THE ICE DIVE (2022), a Netflix documentary directed by Ian Derry, was nominated for both Emmy Awards and BAFTA.

Other notable releases include, but are not limited to, the Finnish horror hit and SXSW standout film LAKE BODOM (2016) and the local comedy smash hit THE RENOVATION (2020) by Taneli Mustonen, as well as Boris Khlebnikov's multi-awarded festival darling ARRHYTHMIA (co-production, 2017).
